The first of my weekly Friday posts. This week, barbecue season is in full swing.

I barbecue a lot and I barbecue everything. There are lots of options for food and many wine pairing possibilities for each

Tonight it was striploin marinated in soya sauce, sesame oil and minced garlic with malt vinegar grilled potatoes and grilled asparagus. The wine I chose was a 2015 Domaine La Chapelle St. Joseph Vacquerys – an @opimianwineclubdevin Founders’ Choice selection. A wonderful full-bodied, spicy GSM blend with wonderful black and red fruit flavours and aromas and a touch of violet on the nose as well. Silky but very present tannins and a nice level of acidity were a great contrast to the subtle fatiness of the meat.

But who knows what is next.

– Barbecue pork with a bold Zinfandel?
– Grilled seared scallops with Crémant d’Alsace?
– Grilled chicken with an Oregon Pinot Noir?
– Barbecue seared sesame encrusted tuna with New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc?

What is YOUR favourite barbecue and wine pairing? Let me know and I will try it out.
